In 1939 H J L Stark owned hundreds of thousands of acres in Louisiana, including the mineral rights. All of the property was treated as community and acquired during his marriage to Nita Hill Stark (1911-1939). When she died in 1939, the only Louisiana property he listed in her Estate was 1000 acres in Johnson Bayou, Cameron Parish. He sold this to E W Brown, Jr in 1941(see below).

According to the forced heirship laws in place in Louisiana throughout the time of their marriage and for the remainder of the 20th century, Nita and Lutcher's sons -- Homer and Bill -- should inherit their portion of Louisiana properties owned by each parent at the time of their death. Instead, only one parcel (shown below) was listed in Louisiana at the time of Nita's death and none acquired prior to 1939 was listed when H J L Stark died in 1965. Sons Homer & Bill received no other property their parents owned anywhere.

In 1918 H J L Stark purchased the “Joyce Tract” in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, He sold this in 1956 to John Mecom (Latigo company) for $15,000,000.00. In 1936 H J L Stark inherited all the Lutcher & Moore Louisiana land owned by his parents, W H and Miriam Stark. In 1970 Nelda Stark sold this property to Boise Southern for $40,000,000.00 (no title search was done). Neither of these properties were listed in Nita Hill Stark’s Estate.
